In recent tests, produce traveling on the same LD7 load was monitored for temperature – an AIRDEX AIRpallet™ against a traditional wood pallet, carrying identical loads of berries. In the first 24 hours, the AIRpallet™ coolest temperature achieved was 31.8°F while the wood pallet never dropped below 40.8°F. During those 24 hours, the AIRDEX pallet maintained a temperature nearly 10°F cooler than the wood pallet! Cooler produce in transit has been shown to increase shelf life and improve the quality of produce delivered. For some produce this difference could mean 4 to 10 days of extra shelf life. Our pallets are made from a foam core with a plastic coating, and together they are engineered to take the burden of the ride instead of passing the turbulence onto your produce. The pallets are designed to absorb shock in the range of 6-12Hz. Most in-transit damage to fruit and produce resulting from shock and vibration occurs in the 5-10Hz range – so AIRDEX pallets will dampen most of that out.
